6th World Congress of Environmental and Resource Economists

The 6th World Congress of Environmental and Resource Economists took place at Gothenburg, Sweden, between the 25th and the 29th June 2018. Among more than 1,400 participants from all over the world, Sarah Fluchs (“The Influence of Government Incentives on Electric Vehicle Adopation: Cross-national Comparison“) from the center als well as Julika Herzberg (“Protection and Profit: Spill-over effects of governmental and marked-based forest policies“) and Morten Endrikat (“The effect of air quality on welfare accounting“) from our institute presented their research on current topics on environmental economics.

Omani students from GUtech visit CIAM

In February, the CIAM hosted a two-week seminar on International Automotive Management for the Omani student delegation of GUtech. By means of case studies and intensive group discussion, the students had the opportunity to develop their knowledge about the global automotive industry, its challenges ahead and the strategic options to position the players of the automotive environment.
As the highlights of the intensive seminar, the students visited the Mercedes-Benz Center in Cologne and e.GO in Aachen.

Job advertisement – Student Assistant

For the summer term 2018, we are looking for an additional student assistant. Working at the CIAM offers the possibility to participate in fascinating projects in the automobile field. The tasks of the student assistant comprise the assistance in preparing lecture material during the regular lecture stint, updating the Center’s website and several ad hoc assignments that are associated with the research projects of the CIAM.

New lecture “Unternehmensethik: Die deutsche Automobilindustrie – ethisch blind, aber lernfähig?”

In the upcoming summer term 2018, the CIAM offers the recently established lecture “Unternehmensethik: Die deutsche Automobilindustrie – ethisch blind, aber lernfähig?”. The lectures covers important theoretical explanatory models of unethical behavior and applies these findings to the automotive industry. Against this background, recent scandals in the automotive industry are discussed.

RWTH Aachen Alliance Projekt in Kooperation mit Ford

Am 25.7. fand das Kick-off Meeting zum neuen Forschungsprojekt „Econometric Modeling of Passenger Car Retail Purchase Behavior“ im Rahmen der „Ford – RWTH Aachen Alliance“ statt. Zusammen mit dem Lehrstuhl für Controlling (Prof. Letmathe), dem FCN (Prof. Madlener) an der RWTH und der Ford Motor Company untersucht unser Lehr- und Forschungsgebiet das Kaufverhalten von privaten PKW-Nutzern in fünf europäischen Märkten.

CIAM publishes study on luxury in the automobile industry

The preferences of car buyers are changing. Especially in urban areas, the relevance of car ownership decreases, fostering the emergence of new mobility solutions. These developments raise several questions related to the importance of the car as status symbol and luxury good. The CIAM conducted an anonymized survey interviewing 210 prospective car users.
